उनाड क्षण: विकटगड

Recently I visited VIKATGAD (Peb fort) with buddies. 21 trekkers and the intersting part was that none of us were aware of how to reach Vikatgad (as usual..Lollzzzz...)!!! We started our journey in early morning and reached NERAL station approximately at 7 am.

After reaching at Neral, first we have celebrated birthday of Vishal,there was cake cutting,birthday bash..n lot of masti.

Then ate Mumbai's most famous dish "VADAPAV" at neral station.

After done with Pet-Puja we moved forward and started our actual journey heading towards Vikatgad.

On The Way to VikatGad

Path to reach Vikatgad was quiet confusing. We cross the railway track and started our journey by walking towards Kalyan end and there we asked local people. After walking about 20 mins we reached at Electric tower again walking more for about 15-20 minutes we met one villager who helped us to find out the exact route to reach towards the fort. There are other routes also but we selected the one which is from electric tower.

After some time we stopped near waterfall to do breakfast. Waterfall was too small which is never seen from far but we can hear sound of water. We did breakfast over there and started journey again.

It was raining heavily but experience of trek in rain was awesome.Thus we were enjoying rain and moving ahead. But rain was playing hide and sick with us in entire trek because heavy rain was coming for 10-15 minutes and suddenly used to stop. There are some rocky paths which you need to climb to reach at top.

But we were moving in rain heading towards fort with GHOSHANAs "GANPATI BAPPA MORYA, MANGAL MURTI MORYA", "SHIVAJI MAHARAJ KI JAI", "HAR HAR MAHADEV".

The route is little bit difficult and thrilling and more and more enjoyable.

Some of us were tired.But once we reach at top all the tiredness had gone away and "WOW" and "AWESOME" expression appears on everybody's faces

We finally reached around 1 pm at fort .

We took approximately 5 hours to reach at top of vikatgad because of photography,enjoyment and breakfast within route.

Then we had lunch and enjoyed a lot over there. What a beauty of nature I have ever seen!!! Greenery spread over everywhere. I don't have words to express it.

For decending we took different route. Difficulty and distance is less while returning from vikatgad as compare to route which we choose to go vikatgad.

There are ladders in some places to move forward while going to fort as well as in return journey.

There is a small idol of "GANPATI BAPPA" in between this route.

And one big idol of Ganpati bappa. The route is different to go there but this idol is also visible form railway route of Matheran.

We reached railway route of Neral-matheran after walking 40-45 minutes. Right hand side is matheran and left hand side routes goes to neral station.

After reaching railway track we moved towards Dasturinaka(Matheran) by following railway track. Dasturi (about 2-3 kms. from Matheran town, the car park point) is the last road point until which cars or taxi can be driven to reach Matheran. While moving towards Matheran you will able to see idol of GANAPATI BAPPA on right hand side.

We reached Dasturi around 5 pm. It took approximately 2 hours to reached Dasturi from Vikatgad. We took taxi from Dasturi for Neral station and within 15-20 minutes we reached Neral station and catch 5: 36 pm Kalyan train.
